History
A proud symbol of our flying heritage
The Fouga CM-170 Magister, developed in the early 1950s by Air Fouga for the French Air Force, stands out with its distinctive V-tail and sleek design. This light twin-engine jet trainer became a commercial success, serving both as a trainer and a light armed day fighter.
Our Fouga Magister "MT-5," a significant part of Belgium's aviation history, joined the Belgian Air Force in 1960, preceding the Alpha Jet. Notably, it was part of the famous 'Red Devils' display team and is the only one retaining its original color scheme. After its military service, "MT-5" journeyed to Israel and later flew in the USA.
In 2014, "MT-5" returned to its new home base in Antwerp, undergoing major restoration before taking to the Belgian skies again in 2017. This historic aircraft, with its iconic red color and unique design, continues to captivate aviation enthusiasts and remains a proud symbol of our flying heritage.
